Rennick, Lord Protector, scholar of Ancient Law and keeper of the Written Word, is the last of a dying profession. Now, in a time of despair and destruction, the evil Dark Mist, a living shadow trapped long ago and sealed beneath the planet surface, is once more a threat to all energy, light and peace. Only the wisdom of the past can defeat it, and Rennick discovers that he has been chosen by the Ancients to fulfill the Word of Prophecy… the only way to stop the impending disaster.
In a final trap devised in the house of the Dark Mist, Pentakis confronts Rennick and the Chosen, but the ensuing battle of spells and dark power end with his own destruction.
Editors note: Despite the changed title and “Conan meets Commando” vibes of that box art, the real Lord Protector has more of a “90’s theater kids excitedly re-enact their D&D campaign” energy. It’s lots of fun and charming as fuck.

About VHS NIght
VHS Night isn’t just about watching the finest rental store staples of the 80’s and 90’s. It’s a celebration of filmmaking without a safety net, where malfunctioning props were the norm and bad takes had to stay. The end results vary wildly in quality (often within the same movie), but even at their worst these movies are full of ambition, heart, and ideas way too strange for mainstream Hollywood.
Yeah, we play these movies on VHS. It looks kind of cool on the big screen, and some of these movies were never released in any other format.
